Get Your House Ready For The Summer Market
If you are considering selling your property in the near future, then you are probably wondering how to get your house ready for the summer market. Even mild winters like we just had are difficult for buyers and sellers. Most buyers who can wait for the warmer weather come out of hibernation when the temperatures rise.
Now, selling a house can be an arduous process. From the moment you decide to list, to getting the listing live, can be quite the slog. Everything you do should be to attract buyers. The best way to do that is to make sure everything about your house looks the best it can.
That’s not a groundbreaking statement, but it is true.
Over my years as a real estate agent in Philadelphia, Bucks and Montgomery Counties, I have seen my fair share of properties listed in each of the seasons. Weather plays a big part in buyers and their mindset going into each property. So, here are a few tips to get your house ready for the summer market:
- Lawn And Garden First: Curb appeal is a real aspect of home buying and selling. The first impression buyers have of your property is the lawn and landscaping. So, focus on cleaning up those flower beds and keeping your lawn in check. Seed and water any parts of your lawn that are not growing to help get them moving in the right direction.
- Declutter: This goes for all seasons but especially in the summer. Whether they are aware of it or not, buyers like clean and minimally staged spaces in the summer months. Move the extra furniture, the army of storage bins stashed in every available space, and anything else you can go without into a garage or a storage space if you can afford one.
- Simple Fixes: Go around your house and make a list of all the little things you can handle fixing on your own. Paint touchups, squeaky door hinges, light fixtures that need to be cleaned…all of that kind of stuff. Then use that as your map for getting your house market ready.
- Bigger Fixes: This is where consulting with an experienced realtor comes in handy. Redoing a whole bathroom or putting new carpeting in isn’t always going to increase the value of your house. So, contact a real estate agent like Albright Real Estate today to make sure you’re not wasting money.
Trust me, I have spent hours and hours going through homes for sale in Bucks County, homes for sale in Montgomery County, and homes for sale in Philadelphia. All of them either have, or would have benefited from, doing these simple things before going on the market.
