Protect Your Home From The Cold, and Stock Up  

Winter is coming! I know, I know, it’s been a pretty timid winter, with unusually warm winter months thus far. As a homeowner, you should be looking into improving your property with some simple fixes. Fixes that will not cost you an arm and a leg. And they will save you along the way with your utility bills. 

Inflation is the highest it has been in years. And no one is clear of it. Which means, you as the consumer will have to pay higher for groceries, gas, clothing, utilities, and other needed every day products. Here are some things to do to make your wallet a little less stressed. 

Find The Cold 

Heating prices are sky high. A high percentage of your heat is lost through the walls and ceilings. To help keep more heat loss from happening, you should check your exterior doors and windows. And if you over spray, once it hardens, you can easily cut away the excess with a utility knife.  

Clean Out Your Gutters 

Before winter gets out of hand, clean out your gutters. Leaves and other debris can cause havoc on your gutters. Clean them out or hire someone to do it (search for gutter cleaners in your area). Cleaning these gutters out can save you a lot of money by avoiding problems. Backed up gutters can cause leaks into your home. Ceiling repairs can be a costly fix. 

Another symptom of backed up gutters are foundation problems. Water is one of the most corrosive and damaging things in the world. And fixing cracks in your foundation can be an expensive job. It far outweighs the cost of cleaning your gutters. So it is a no brainer to choose the lesser option.  

Stock Up On Eggs, Milk, and Bread 

Now that you learned a few ways to keep your home warm and safe, it is time to plan ahead. People go crazy when they hear winter storms are on the way. They flood supermarkets and buy everything they can get their hands on. Stock up well in advance on things you will need to get through any power outages or cabin fever. Having enough food and drink is important in the event you can’t leave your house for a couple days.
